About us

Rawdon Hills United Church in Upper Rawdon includes members from a large geographic area including Upper Rawdon, Center Rawdon, Rawdon Gold Mines, South Rawdon, Nine Mile River, Greenfield, West Gore and East Gore.

The Rawdon Pastoral Charge consists of a single point, located at Upper Rawdon. The Rawdon Hills United Church stands at the site of the first Methodist Chapel, which was built in 1835. Although the deed stated that it was to be used only by Methodists, many other Protestant groups held services in that first building.

The original building was sold and moved off the site and a second church was built on the same foundation in 1869. With Church Union in 1925, it was transferred from the Shubenacadie to the Newport Charge and was made part of a six-point Mission Field served by student ministers. Originally part of a four - point Charge, this building became the focal point of the Rawdon Pastoral Charge in September of 2007 through amalgamation.

Continuing a strong tradition of student ministry, Rawdon Pastoral Charge is supporting Kim Curlett on her journey to ordination. Kim recently graduated from Atlantic School of Theology in Halifax with her Masters of Divinity degree.
